The PBS and Learning Channel TV show, Hometime, has been produced for 12 years now. Dean Johnson launched Hometime in 1984 and has served as the executive producer and co-host from day one. He has gone through several co-hosts and many more projects.

The Hometime web page has some really great resources available to their web users. One of them is the "Circuit-Breaker" newsletter. You receive a copy of this by becoming a member of the "closed circuit" group. Dean Johnson writes most of this newsletter that includes "member-only sneak previews, special store sales and home improvement tips."

Another great resource involves information. You know how you sit down a begin flipping channels, come across Hometime, and catch the last part of a show concerning a new product that is perfect for you. But how do you get more information? Now there is a way. On the Hometime web page, they include information about the products that they use and the plans that they work from. If I good deal of work was completed by one specific contractor, they include their information too.

The area that will be most useful to us normal folks, are the links to their projects. From the "projects" link you can choose the category that interests you the most can work your way down from there. Some links have just a few links under them, and others have a lot. Even if you are just looking for ideas, this is a great place to start so that you have a realistic idea of how much work is really required.

There are a lot of pages out there. You found the right start here at Suite101, and then Hometime is a good next step from here.
