As I mentioned in a previous article, the winter is a great time to begin planning, and even stocking up materials for future projects. As I've been nosing around on the web I have come across some interesting links for planning and getting ready for your next job.
Better Homes and Gardens have put together a great aid for those of us that may be a little indimidated by a kitchen remodel. Their kitchen remodel planner is a really big help. The site (http://www.bhg.com/kpg/) starts with the planning stage. In this stage they give you some great information and strategies for getting the most out of your kitchen. If you don't know what your kitchen's work triangle is, this is the place to find out. The next area is materials and fixtures. Here you will learn all kinds of options for your kitchen. This goes well beyond the standard cabinet and faucet. There is a huge number of options to consider when choosing the look and feel of your kitchen. Did you know that there are at least six different types of countertops? If not, then this is definitely a place you need to check out. The next area is that of appliances. This may seem fairly cut and dried, but did you know there is more than one kind of oven for you to consider? And I don't mean the difference between gas and electric. As you plan your kitchen, would you have thought to consider the ventilation? These are just a few of the areas covered in the appliances link. The next area is an gallery. It is not just pictures, this is an idea gallery. This is where you can come and get some ideas for decor and design. I am a little partial to the country theme throughout a kitchen, but all the others would be great as well. Its all up to your personal taste (pardon the pun.) The final area is the one that is most exciting. This is the kitchen arranger. You need Flash4 to make this work, and it is worth it. My recommendation is that you make some measurements of your current kitchen and the space you have to deal with, and then change it from there. With this tool, you can move cabinets in and out, change appliances, or change the layout. Pretty much, if you can dream it, you can see it. The winter may slow things down a bit, but it is a great time to do a little dreaming about what could be. Go To Page: 1
