Well, Fall is upon us. That means that everyone who used their Summer for fun and frolic, is now heading home, with a "to-do" list that won't quit. I would like to hear from folks concerning what some of their lists contain, and what they may want some suggestions on, from myself and other readers. Some areas that you may want to consider inspecting are your water pipes. Any pipes that have any exterior exposure should be insulated. If you are using heat-tape, you should go ahead and get everything plugged in. Make sure the exterior faucets are covered (this won't hurt even for the ones that are freeze-proof). Another area to look over is your roof. This may be your last chance to be able to do this without getting drenched or frozen. Pay close attention to the areas around vent pipes and chimney's. You may also want to take a hard look at some of your trees. If there are some old heavy limbs, you may want to take them down yourself, instead of letting a good storm do it for you. These are just some ideas of what I have done in the past for winter preparation. Give me some of your ideas for winter preparation.
