This is the attitude you need when you go "shopping" for stuff for your space. Look at an old wooden tissue box and see a nicely painted tissue box for your space. An old chipped porcelain mixing bowl can be the perfect planter for a pretty plant. An ugly ceramic lamp can be painted to match the decor of your porch. An old jar filled with assorted metal washers? Paint the washers and make a colorful wind chime. Old Christmas lights can come in handy for a party on your deck or gazebo. Even someone's old battered recliner can be a great buy. Even if you can't sew, you can cover it with some nice fabric. Ah! A comfy chair for the porch.

Getting the idea? Use your imagination. Now when you look at things maybe you will see what others didn't. You can also find other things at the sales. Throw pillows for a buck or two. Some old gardening tools can be hung on the wall. Just arrange them in a balanced manner. TV trays can be painted and used just about anywhere. Old wooden chairs, matching or mismatched, set around any table will be useful, and have a nice outdoor look. You can paint them or just leave them battered looking. Whatever fits your style.

If you have an enclosed porch, you can pick up a few old paintings, pictures ,or posters. Hang them on the walls. Just because it is out on the porch doesn't mean you can't decorate the walls. After all, you will be spending time there. You want it to look homey.

Another thing that will make that porch look more inviting is, PILLOWS. Big, beautiful, colorful pillows. Throw big floor pillows in front of your chairs. If you have a sofa on the porch, add at least two oversized pillows.

For some nice ideas visit WAVERLY Indoor Outdoor Spaces. They'll show you how to add elegence to your outdoor living spaces.

For a gazebo, look for old lace curtains. They can be hung for a romantic hideaway. Old juice glasses can become votive candle holders. Make sure that they are thick glass or they will crack from the heat of the flame. Colored bottles, like cobalt blue, can be set around in groupings; use then for tapered candles. Some strings of white lights hung from the ceiling mimic the stars in the sky.

There is all sorts of good junk out there. You just have to be open to some interpretation . So now that you have a few ideas, make that outdoor space special.
