Stock Up; It's Spring Cleaning Time!OK, technically spring is still a few weeks away. Well Now is the time to start your cleaning. So you can enjoy the spring. We're going to be talking about what to stock up on, not on the actual cleaning. The department stores are having their spring-cleaning sales now, and there is no reason to pass them by. First lets talk cleaning solutions. In many cases the store brand of cleaner works just as well as the name brand. With out the high price tag. In other cases you really don't need to buy certain special solutions at all. You can make them for half the price. Window cleaner Here you can save two ways. Make your own window spray by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Now don't waist your paper towels, use old black and white newspapers. The actually work better and they're a great way to recycle. No Wax floor cleaner Another way to save. Carefully, mix ΒΌ cup ammonia to 1 gallon water, in a bucket. Being sure you do not inhale the ammonia as you pour it in the water!!! Chrome cleaner This one might surprise you. If you have some dirty, stained, and even plastic melted on your chrome, you just might already have the perfect cleaner. It's nail polish remover! That's right, just dab some polish remover on a paper towel and rub the stains, and stuck-on plastic, right off. It even gets bugs off of your car's chrome. Great, you've just saved money on some of your solutions. Now what about the tools? They can cost a mint, if you get sucked into buying them. Many cheaper items will do the job for a fraction of the cost. I was just looking at a leading mail order catalogue for home "improvements". I found a brush for cleaning out the track to your shower door. It cost $7.99 US. At first I thought, "what a wonderful idea!" Then I thought about it. I had just seen a package of 10 toothbrushes for a dollar, at the local dollar store. They had large heads and looked suspiciously like the brush from the catalogue. Guess what I'll be using to clean my shower door tract? In the same catalogue I spied a brush to clean the lint out of your dryer vent. This one was, I must admit, impressive looking. It had a long handle and looked like a chimney brush. Now we know the dryer vent (the tube the air goes through), needs to be kept free of lint to avoid a fire. This wonderful item cost $14.99 US. Now call me crazy, but it only costs about $4 US to replace the vent, and it's easy to do. So WHY?? would you spend the money and the time to clean the darned thing. Just change it once or twice a year, depending on how much use it gets. Less work and lower cost, Humm, I wonder if I should order that cool looking brush?
