Easy Halloween Costumes!

A Safe and easy Ghost
This one is great for the very little ones, as well as the bigger ones.

You will need:
A white twin sized sheet
A round piece of cardboard, the size of a dinner plate
White thread
White face makeup, or baby powder (your choice)
Scissors
White nail polish (for boy and girl)

Fold the sheet in half width wise. Place the cardboard circle on the fold line and trace it. Cut it out, one layer only. Save the cut out piece. Put your child's head through the hole. Have them put their arms out straight. Sew a straight line for the arms. Take it off and turn it inside out. Put it back on. Now check the length. You don't want the sheet to be tripping your child all night. So cut the bottom to right above their ankles. There is no need to hem unless you wish to.

Take the round sheet cutout and hand stitch a basting stitch around the edge. Gather the fabric until it makes a cap the size of your child's head. Secure the stitches with a knot. This will be the white head.

On Halloween, cover the face with white makeup or powder. Paint the nails white with the nail polish. put on the cap and costume and they're ready to go out and scare up some fun.

A Modern Witch
This one is for all ages, including adults. Hey, why should the kids have all of the fun?

You will need
Black tights
Black shirt, long or short sleeved
Black shoes, sneakers or slippers (high heels for the adults)
Two yards of black tulle
Plastic spiders, mice or bugs
Bobbie or hairpins
Craft glue
Black lipstick and nail polish
Black eyeliner

I think it should be obvious what to do with the cloths, wear them. Make a skirt out of the tulle, like in the fairy costume. Glue the bugs, and such, to the hairpins. When glue is dry they can be worn in very teased and messy hair. Paint your nails black, as well as your lips. Use the eyeliner to draw on warts, spider webs and moles. Wellah! You are a Witch.

Hope you can use some of my suggestions. If you have any homemade costume ideas, please tell us about them.
