Your Garden OasisBig or small, your garden is your oasis. Gardening is meant to be a form of communing with nature, relaxing, reflecting and getting away from it all for a while. It works out your muscles, mind and soul. Maybe that's why it has always been such a popular hobby. Of course, to a true gardener it is much more than a hobby. It is a way of life. Whether your garden is of a grand scale, or a few rose bushes, it is your own personal get away. We gardeners tend to loose our selves in our gardens. The type of garden you grow might say a lot about your personality. Rose gardeners are generally sweet folks. Herb gardeners are pretty down to earth. Veggie gardeners are usually good providers. Weed gardeners, yes there are some, like to let thing fall where they may. Bulb gardeners are down to earth and like to plan ahead. If you grow it all, like I do, you are probably an over achiever. Not necessarily a bad thing to be. Many gardeners create seating areas in their gardens. Even these vary depending on the gardener. Some go all out with concrete benches, near a pond or fountain. Others choose the more natural look of wooden furniture. Even more naturalists use field stone benches, and twig furniture. Some add their own marks on their gardens. With items from a whirly gig, to sculptures, the possibilities are endless. For some interesting garden décor, please visit the The Fourth Annual Tacky Yard Art Contest. You could get an idea or too, or just be amazed at what others will decorate with. Either way it's a lot of fun. Many gardeners opt for growing color gardens. They choose a favorite color, and plant in all of the color's hues. These can be very dramatic and beautiful. From red gardens to black ones, you might be surprised at the selections. Weekend gardeners are no different than us full timers. They put their heart and soul into their gardens as well. Since they can only be there after work and on the weekend, they crave their garden oases. The scale may be smaller, but the beauty is the same. If you already don't, spend plenty of non-working time in your garden. Take some time to reflect, relax, and just enjoy it.
