I know the spirits of the past present and future usually show up at Christmas. Well, this year they are going to help me get into the Easter spirit. Yes, there is an Easter spirit, and I've got it. Both spiritual and festively.

The Spirit of Easter Past

The first Easter we visited was the Easter of many generations. I was four and had my entire family around me. We were all dressed in out Easter finest. All of the women, including my sister and myself. I was blessed to have four Great Grandparents, two Grandparents, four aunts and uncles, my sister and my parents. I was told the story of Easter, by my great Grandmother. She told me how Jesus had died for us. She told me how he rose from the dead, to show us there is a heaven. I sat there mesmerized. It was a great memory.

We then visited an Easter when I was in my teens. All of my little cousins, and my sisters, sat around and listed as I played the guitar and sang Easter hymns. They thought it so cool. Later, they all went out, to the back yard. Where I had hidden candies and colored eggs. Another wonderful memory.

We spun ahead to the Easter one of my nephews learned about Easter. He cried all day. He couldn't understand why anyone would kill Jesus. We were speechless, as to how to explain. He was so sweet, and his tears for Jesus were so genuine. He touched us all forever.

I wanted to see more, but the spirit said it was time for her to go. I dosed off for a while.

The Spirit of Easter Present

I was having a nightmare about how I would get everything done for Easter dinner. The entire family was coming. There were eggs to devil, a centerpiece to finish, and all of the linen napkins needed cleaning. I was woken by The Spirit of Easter present.

I was still obsessing about being the perfect hostess. The Spirit grabbed me by the hand, and took me to my childhood Church. Everyone was dressed beautifully. They were all singing high praises. Then, the priest started his homily. He told the story of the stations of the cross. He teared up as he told about the murder of Jesus. His face beamed with faith, when he talked of the resurrection. It was like he actually took us there.
