Herbal Teas for BeginnersHerbals are very popular, now a days. Well, there are many of us that already knew, how wonderful they are. We have been enjoying their benefits for years. The safest, and easiest way to use herbals is as infusions. Also knows as teas. As far back as our written history goes, Herbs are spoken about. Their special, and individual, "powers", helped the quest for continual good health. First thought of as the tools of Witches and Magicians, herbs have grown into their own. Their "powers" have been proven beneficial to our overall health. It has become, more and more, easy for everyone to make their own tea blends. You can grow the herbs in pots, on a deck or patio. Or, go all out with a traditional herb garden. Most garden centers carry a large selection of herb plants. Their prices range from .89 to 3.00 (American), per plant. Considering the prices of herbal tea, at the supermarket, you can't loose. So there really aren't any excuses for not trying. I will be sharing two of my own herbal tea recipes with you. Also, I let you know about some extra add-ins, to make your teas special enough to give as gifts. Before we get to the recipes, let's talk some herbal tea basics. Herb bases for herbal teas; There are several herbs that are considered "starters" for herbal teas. While these herbs do have their own benefits, they can also be used as a base for any herbal teas. Here are a few of your choices. 1 Wild Raspberry Leaves. When dries, they are ground by hand into small pieces. Many leaves can be dried at one time and stored in a glass, or tin, airtight container. 2 Wild Strawberry Leaves. Dry and store as Raspberry leaves. 3 Mint Leaves. Dry, crush and store as above. Any of these herbals can serve as your tea base. Try to always keep one, or all, on hand year round. Flavor enhancers for herbal teas; There are many choices you can go with. Here are a few of them. 1 Dried fruits. Several dried fruits can be added to herbal teas. Some of my favorites are: Black Raspberries, Apple chips, and even dried Pineapple. 2 Spices. While many spices have health benefiting qualities, they can also add a special flavor to your teas. Some are: Cloves, Allspice Berries, Crushed Cinnamon Sticks, and Ginger. Depending on your taste, you can use any or all of these.
