½ cup catsup 2 tbls. Worcestershire sauce

Heat sauce to a simmer. Continue to simmer for 30 minutes. This recipe makes a lot of sauce. You can either freeze some or process in Water bath for 15 minutes, in canning Jars.

Mom's (my grandmother) Spice Cake

Sift; 2 cups cake flour 1 ½ cups sugar 1 ¼ tsp. Salt 1 ½ tsp. Cinnamon 1/8 tsp. Ground cloves ¾ tsp. Ground nutmeg

Add; ½ cup vegetable shortening ¾ cup thick sour milk* 1 tsp. Vanilla

Beat for two minutes; add 2 eggs beat an additional 2 minutes.

Place in greased 13x9x3 inch cake pan, bake at 370* F, for 30-35 minutes. Or until top is lightly browned and toothpick comes out dry. Allow to cool thoroughly and frost with Cream cheese frosting.

Now for the winner of the contest. Our winner is Richard McCurdy, with his Grandmother's Apple pie. The yellow delicious apples put it over the top.

Grandma's Apple Pie

6-8 tart Yellow Delicious Apples 1 ½ tbls. Cinnamon 1 tsp. Nutmeg ¾ to 1 ¼ cups sugar, depending on the tartness of the apples 2 tbls. Butter 2 pie crusts

Peel and pare apples. Slice thinly and mound into lined pie dish, till it will hold no more. Carefully pour sugar over apples, followed by cinnamon and nutmeg. Slice butter and place over the top.

Wet edges of crust with water, and add the top crust. Crimp and seal tightly. Don't forget air vents in the top crust. Bake at 425 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
