Our Editor in Chief: On Our Anniversary

It all began in June, 1996 when i5ive Communications Inc quietly put up a Web site. We had one Contributing Editor, 11 members (friends of the staff), and a few paragraphs of information about a concept that would come to be known as Suite101.com. We had a long ways to go, but we were excited to take the first steps.

Our goal was to create a unique best-of-Web guide, a human filter to best the sites on the Internet. A site that relieved Internet users of the chaos and frustration of using a search engine. With millions of Web sites being created each month, it was becoming increasingly difficult to find quality Web sites. Suite101.com's Contributing Editors would provide a fast, efficient means of locating quality content.

Today, three years later, Suite101.com now has over 650 Contributing Editors, 40,000+ members, and thousands of pages of archived content. What began as a human powered search engine has evolved into an immense site powered by the passions and interests of thousands of individual Web users.

The business side of Suite101.com has also evolved over the past three years. The recent closing of a US $5 million round of financing will enable Suite101.com to shift into a new era. We're currently preparing for a substantial upgrade to the site, and will be initiating a major marketing campaign within the next few months.

We want to thank all of our Editors, members, and loyal visitors for their dedication to Suite101.com.We look forward to sharing many more anniversaries with all of you.
