A Workspace Of Your OwnWe all need a space of our own. Whether it is for a home office, a craft room/area, or just a little corner you can call your own. If you have a big house, with room to spare, you probably have a space of your own. But, not everyone is so lucky. Most people find it hard to claim their private area. Instead they feel they have to share the dining room table, the family desk, or even a card table in the corner. Living in a small house, apartment, condo, or trailer, poses definite space problems. If you are in that boat, I have some life preservers to pull you out. You won't have to build any walls, or throw anyone out. So get ready for some solutions, or an idea or two, to get you a Space of Your Own. Look for unutilized space Take a good look around your home. I mean a GOOD look. Is there any place where you really don't use that space? Maybe a corner of your bedroom, that holds the chair, or your dirty laundry. How about the big closet in the spare bed room? Do you really need to keep a hundred paper shopping bags and gift boxes in there? What about the attic? With a little organizing, I'll bet you could end up with half the room empty. What a wonderful place for a sewing or craft room. How about the basement? Sure it is dark, and you haven't used it since the kids were small. Well bring down a few lamps, and take it over again. If it is a potting room or plant starting area you long for; how about the mud room? Add a narrow work bench and just place the shoes and boots underneath. A small garden shed can be easily converted into a terrific potting shed. Just use the walls for storage, add a work bench, a bar stool, and you are ready to grow. Is a home office what you are dreaming of? How about installing a fold down table on the wall in the extra bedroom. Leave it up while using it, and place it down when guests are staying. Even better, leave it up for guests and turn it into a sitting table. Wow, a piece of wood, a few hinges, some paint, and you have a double duty table. Desk by day, sitting table by night.
