"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt"

anyone who just wants to throw a person they don't like into death row is nothing more than a sadist. I'm afraid that would be my view as well -- half of the people I see who support sending killers to death row seem to me like people who are only less bloodthirsty than the killers, only by virtue of not picking up a pistol and doing the job themselves. Mind you, it's hard to feel sympathy for the killers -- in fact, it's usually impossible. But should anyone have the right to fight fire with fire?

The film is possibly dated, but in only one major way. Hollywood doesn't make films like this anymore; films that are about social issues, dealt with in a low-key, quiet manner. Teenagers wouldn't want to see such a picture anyway, especially since all it consists of is a bunch of middle-aged and older guys talking. Maybe if we actually saw the murder in gruesome detail, then we could get a few of those kids in the theater. Other than this issue, 12 Angry Men is a fine social drama, with issues that people in jury rooms all over the world are, more likely than not, still fighting over today.
