It`s a Wonderful Life -- For Those Not Paying Attention.

damned galaxies start talking and flashing. These are supposed to represent the angels of heaven, and, besides being theologically incorrect, are plain corny. And the angel Clarance comes across as a naive simpleton, as if only simpletons are capable of remedying spiritual problems (although there is some gentle humour at his expense during the latter portions of the film).

It`s a Wonderful Life works everytime even with the corniness. Even as this movie is highly manipulative, it is also authentic and very crafty. Never does it feel phony; never does it feel overbearing; never does it feel saccharine - almost everything in this film feels right. But perhaps the only way to truly understand how intriging this film really is, is to brush aside all associations with it; to forget that this is piegon-holed as a Christmas movie, and to pay attention to the actual film-making, and the performance of James Stewart. Then one will see that It's a Wonderful Life is indeed worthy of classic stature.
