The Power of Positive Thought© T. Darlene Cheek
This article is sort of a continuation from the article "Positive Energy," where we talked about how to change the energy in our bodies and how to send positive energy to others. This article will discuss exactly how energy and thought work.
Life is energy. Think for a moment about electrical wires running through a wall, into an outlet. You plug a lamp into the outlet, flip on the switch, the energy flows, and the light comes on. That is much like the way we function. When we are born, the switch is flipped on, we flow with energy, and we are alive. As we discussed in "Positive Energy," every single thing that exists, from our thoughts to the form of our body to the mountains and the stars... all energy. So, if life is energy and our thoughts are energy, then our thoughts are alive. As with all living things, these thoughts will struggle to survive, just as even the tiniest life forms such as amoeba will struggle to survive, to continue to live. What am I getting at? Well, these thoughts of ours, these little energies, these life forms that we create will struggle just as hard as we do to stay alive. So you have a thought, what then? Say for example that you think, "I am happy." This thought is now a life form. Now once again, you say, "I am happy." That life form just became stronger. Again? "I am happy." Stronger still. The more often you say the phrase, "I am happy," the stronger that little happy life becomes until... Until what? Until you are happy. This is a very basic description of how positive thought works. Does it work the same way with negative thought? You betcha! That's why it is so very important to think positively. If you've gone through the energy changing exercise in "Positive Energy," affirmations are the next step and a great way to reinforce our positive thoughts. Affirmations are positive phrases that help us focus on what we want to be true in our lives. Affirmations are powerful! They are positive thoughts combined with intent. Gary Zukav talks a lot about intent. Intent gives our thoughts a goal to work towards. It boosts some extra positive energy into the mixture, as well. Gary says that in essence, "What you intend is what you become." It's that plain and simple. Visualization is the icing on the cake. When you have a thought, and you intend for that thought to be brought into your life, and you can see yourself having that in your life, you will have it.
