Life Without Guilt

This is one of the best books I have ever read on healing. Guilt is something that all of us have experienced at one time or another in our lives. We all know, or think we know, what guilt is. Dr. Denning thoroughly explains not only what guilt really is but also how it affects our body, mind, and spirit. As I read through Life Without Guilt, I realized that the author is not simply talking about how our guilt from this life affects us. What? That's right, Dr. Denning tells us how the guilt from our past lives still affects our spiritual evolvement in the life we are living today. It's fascinating!

I can't put into words how much this book affected me. Here is a simple example: I allow myself to become very angry when my husband leaves his dirty clothes on the floor. I know, it sounds silly, but it really bothers me. When I read Dr. Denning's book, I realized that I'm NOT angry with my husband. What is happening to me when I feel all those negative emotions because his clothes are on the floor is really about my having feelings of guilt. My foster parents used to shame me and punish me harshly for not having all my clothes on hangers or in their proper drawer. When I see my husband's clothes on the floor, I FEEL that shame. I feel the guilt that I felt as a young girl when clothes weren't in their proper place. Now that I realize this, I can let those negative feelings go and realize that this really isn't such a big issue after all. I don't have to let something like dirty clothes on the floor affect me negatively and make me feel bad about my husband or myself.

Can something that small really cause all those negative feelings? Yes. So, just imagine what something on a much larger scale can do to us. Dr. Denning says that these feelings of guilt can even carry over from the emotional into the physical realm by causing illness and disease in our bodies, and I have no doubt in my mind that she is absolutely right about that. The case studies in Life Without Guilt are startling examples of how guilt can affect us holistically and can even cause death. Furthermore, when we die without closure with a guilt issue from one life, we carry that issue into our next life so that we have a chance to learn the lesson we were meant to learn and heal.
