Hypnotherapy 101 (Part I) - Page 3© T. Darlene Cheek, CHt. These hypnotic signs cannot be faked. For myself, I usually begin to feel my eyes flutter as I imagine a relaxing scene. I've learned that this is very natural, but if you are hypnotizing someone else, it helps to tell them that it is perfectly okay if their eyelids flutter or if they feel the need to swallow, it's okay to do so. Even reaching up to scratch your head will not take you out of trance. Once you've reached this point, there are three steps left to the hypnosis session: a) Induction, b) Suggestion, c) Awakening. I want to end this week by giving you a very easy induction, and we'll finish up next week with the power of suggestion and some tricks of the trade. Dr. Flowers' Hypnotic Induction Method You'll want to demonstrate this technique by reading it aloud to the client for the first two steps. When you reach the words in ALL CAPS, you will start back at the beginning and read all the way through to the end, performing the induction. Introduction Look at the wall in front of you as though you are looking through the wall at a very pleasant scene. Look at the scene in a vague, dreamy way. Future Tense Soon you'll find all the muscle groups in your body will relax... your facial muscles will relax... your arms will relax... your legs will relax... your whole body will let go, and soon you'll close your eyes and go into a sound, peaceful, hypnotic rest. Present Tense Now your muscles groups are relaxed... your face relaxes... your arms relax... your legs... your whole body has let go and relaxes completely... one... two... three... (count all the way to twenty).
