Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic

You all know that one of my favorite subjects is crystal healing. I get especially excited when I find another great book that tells me something I don't know about crystals, and that's pretty hard to do. Crystals was one of the very first healing methods I was introduced to, and the book I've been reading over and over again for the last couple of weeks is an exceptional source of new information, even to the experienced crystal healer. Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic is inspiring. It is one of the best books I've ever read on crystals.

Cunningham's love of nature really shows through in his writing. "From the earliest prehistoric times to our technological age we have found beauty, power and mystery within stones. Just as herbs possess energies, so too do stones and metals. With their powers we can change ourselves and our lives," says Cunningham. He has over 16-years experience working with these energies in nature, and he is very knowledgeable regarding their uses and healing powers. One of the most powerful things he says at the beginning of the book is for us to imagine a stone sitting quietly in the earth for millions of years. This struck me pretty hard with the realization of how much energy a stone can gather in that amount of time. No other substance on earth is around to absorb and develop that much healing power.

As you begin to get a feeling for this very powerful source of healing, Cunningham describes the different properties of not only stone colors, but also stone shapes, as well as the use of visualization during the healing session. He covers different ways to obtain our healing stones, cleansing, and attuning or energizing them. If you feel for your crystals like I do, you'll love the chapter on getting to know the story of your stone. He says that the universe is constantly speaking to us, if we only listen. Working with each stone during meditation will allow the stone to tell us its personal story and reveal to us its own special healing abilities. Allow the stone to teach you!

There are 75 pages on individual crystals and their uses covering agate to zircon, and then he goes into the metals: gold, pyrite, lead, silver, copper, iron, magnets and more. All books on crystals cover a description of uses for each crystal, but none cover them in the depth that Scott Cunningham shares with us. Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic is a must-have for the crystal healer.
