Yes, You Are Psychic (Part III)

Some of you at this point are saying, "You've got to be kidding! What does psychic enhancement have to do with Holistic Therapy?" Well, the word holistic infers "as a whole." This includes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our lives. Psychic awareness is one of those areas that leaves us in a state of confusion when it first hits us, especially if we aren't really sure what it is, how it works, or what to do with it. So, if we are learning to increase our mental capacity, we will in all probability experience some of these psychic impressions. Learning what to do with these and how to make them stronger, simply becomes part of our holistic health at this point.

The book I am reading, Your Sixth Sense, is by Belleruth Naparstek, author of another book I'm constantly referring to, Staying Well With Guided Imagery. She started realizing her psi, as she calls it, in her work with guided imagery, which also leads me to believe that at some point during your mental enhancement processes, you'll come across the same experiences that Naparstek experienced. I'm going to touch on the highlights of the book, but I highly recommend that everyone buy Your Sixth Sense as an addition to your self-help library.

Naparstek starts out explaining the difference between a) knowledge from experience, b) intuition, and c) psychic knowing. She says there are just some things that you work through logically and "know" from previous experiences in your life. Other types of awareness come simply from our intuition or "gut" feeling. Then there are times, which we will cover in this article, where you receive what she calls a "psychic pop." These are the images that just appear from nowhere, but are right on the money.

So, besides simply having this ability at birth (which all of us do), we come across this ability even stronger through other experiences in our life: Trauma, abuse, terror, near death experiences, yoga, meditation, right brain exercises, proximity to other psi fields, falling in love and/or heartbreak, are all partly responsible for moments where our third eye chakra center is wide open and receptive. Another thing that really helps us be more in tune with this sense is the cultivation of love and compassion for other human beings, animals, plants, and the universe.

When I read this in the first part of her book, it really struck a chord with me, because that's how I do my work! When someone comes to me seeking help in his or her life, I instantly begin to feel a love for that person. Is this what gives me that extra something where I feel that I know what that person needs to bring into their life for their holistic health? Very possibly, it is. I have also noticed that there are certain places and/or circumstances where I am more "in tune." Your Sixth Sense touches on the theory that you can start out always using the same place (which will become your "sacred space"), posture, circumstances, etc. for your work. That way whenever you arrive in your "sacred space," your awareness is already "warming up."
