Our Creative Subconscious (Part II)

There is nothing you can't accomplish using the power of your own mind! "I'd really like to be more creative," ... "I have no talents," ... "I think I just lack passion," ... or heaven forbid, "I have writer's block." I hear all of these statements and more several times a day. "I'd like to write a journal maybe," ... "I wish I could play a musical instrument," ... "I'd love to be more artistic." Last year, I learned to play the guitar in record time, and with more skill and actual talent than I thought I had. Is that bragging? Why, yes, it is! (That statement also says "If I can do it, anybody can!") My teacher says I play better than some people he's seen playing for 20 years. Another milestone was to overcome my shyness and start writing for Suite101 on Holistic Therapy. I've learned all about the internet just since December and have a personal page that I'm very proud of. I write my own hypnosis scripts for use in my therapy practice and to share with people on the internet. One thing I'll tell you is that I would have never thought I could accomplish any of this!So what was the change? The use of self-hypnosis in my every day life. My hour a day that I spend just for myself includes using self-hypnosis and Reiki as part of my own therapy. I know the scripts that I give you every week work because I use them myself. As Part II of our series on increasing our mental strengths, I'm going to tell you how I developed my drive, passion, enthusiasm, creativity, and so on. Even if you have a love of something, like I love writing these articles each week, you still need that little push sometimes to actually get motivated and start a project. You need the energy and the creativity it takes, too. Where do those new ideas flow from? The first tip is actually hinted at above - Love what you do. This is easier if you are doing something that you enjoy in life, but what about the areas that you don't necessarily have a love for, like a job presentation, or a speech or lecture that you've been "volunteered" for? All these can be addressed with the same answer. Using a little quick self-hypnosis, you can feel that inner passion for those areas, too. One of the keys to self-hypnosis can also be the use of subliminal self-messaging such as saying "I really love doing this," whether you mean it or not. You want to avoid feeding your mind negative messages such as "I hate doing this," because those negative messages can stick! The positive messages, or even affirmations, will reinforce positive feelings and actions.
