More Crystals (Crystal Healing Part II)

So where did the practice of healing with rocks come from? Is this all myth? Witchcraft? Why all the ceremonies and traditions? I don't know for sure how far back healing with crystals originated, but most of what I have studied with crystal healing comes from knowledge passed down by the American Indian culture. As far as being simply myth or even witchcraft, then, no it isn't witchcraft nor myth as I have experienced the healing power of crystals myself. So what are the traditions and ceremonies and why are they used?

The Native American traditions first of all take nothing from the earth without giving something in return, thus giving and receiving an equal exchange of energy. (An interesting note is that Reiki, a Japanese form of energy healing, uses the same principal of having an equal exchange of energy for healing.) So, if you are going to use a crystal for healing, you may want to return a gift to the earth, such as a bit of tobacco buried in the ground to give the tobacco's uplifting energy back to Mother Earth. Sometimes I plant a flower or toss petals of a cut flower into the wind and thank the universal energy for the use of one of its healing gifts. Once this is done, you are ready to use the stone you have chosen.

You learned in Crystal Healing for Beginners how to cleanse your stone with water. There are other ways to cleanse your stone using the four elements of earth, wind, water, and fire, that are covered in Crystal Medicine and other books if you'd like to try a few different ideas. The next step is to empower your crystal with your own energy and the healing energy of the universe as the Native Americans believe that all creatures and things, animate and inanimate, contain living spirit. The healer would first ask the stone's spirit what it may be used for and proceed from that point. To put my energy into the stones, I simply hold it in my right hand and focus on white light coming from my palm and going into the stone. Other ways are to keep the stone near your heart or under your pillow... as just being close to you will combine your two energies. So, we have returned to energy.

A more in-depth study of energy flow in the body will more than likely lead you to Meridians. Meridians are points located where flesh, veins, arteries, tendons, bones and joints meet in the physical body. These points may be used to stimulate and heal the internal organs and systems of the body, but until you reach the point of studying the Meridians in depth, using the Chakra Centers will do just fine. Laying crystals, gems and minerals on these points or on the chakras brings about balance and healing by changing energy.

Dear Deb,

I believe it may even get harder. Do you want a last look at Darth? His claws were awesome. If his kids don't move on, I plan on using them for slippers!
