Effects of Butter & Margarine

Believe it or not, butter and margarine actually have some benefit besides the great flavor. They are good sources of vitamins A and D, and any margarine made with polyunsaturated oils contains essential fatty acids.

There are many more drawbacks though! Butter and margarine are high in calories (all coming from fat). They increase the risk of Cancer, obesity, and disease, especially heart disease. Stick margarine has recently surfaced as the worst of the offenders, containing trans fatty acids which raise blood cholesterol. Butter and margarine also usually contain a high amount of salt.

The best way to learn to use less butter in your diet is to use herb blends to season your food.

  • Exercise! Try to get at least some aerobic exercise, but also try to enjoy it. Getting exercise outdoors is a great way to enjoy your exercise program and develop a more positive attitude.

  • Meditate. Meditation is an excellent stress reliever and gives your brain a chance to rest. Choose a meditation program that you like and can do in your own schedule. Even a 10 minute meditation period is better than an hour's worth of meditation that you can
