A Child Is Born!
It has been nine months. You and your husband have waited, and waited. Now a child is born, and it is yours. Back and forth to the Baby Doctor to check out progress -– the coming of a new birth means getting the little room all set up with a crib, playpen, stroller, supply of diapers, baby powder, and formula or soft infant food. It is a special time in both of your lives. A time unlike any other. You have never had a child – been parents. This is the first. Signs of your child entering this world is not only written all over your faces. As excitement escalates, it also shows up in conversations that both of you have with one another, as you try to decide on a name, and dream of what the child will look like. For awhile in your marriage it was just the two of you. Now a new member of your family circle will come to the forefront. As mom’s stomach grows larger, little Johnny or little Jane are preparing for a grand entrance. Before your baby is born, all of your loved ones are planning on throwing you a party, called a Baby Shower, to celebrate this honorable occasion in life. It’s going to be fun! Mom is being pampered. She is the center of attention. The maternity lady has a unique sparkle in her eye, as she thinks about the depth of love she feels for the new child – a child that no one has seen, yet. She strokes her tummy with her fingers, anticipating the new arrival. And so does her husband. Since she is the one physically carrying the child, she is given a special chair in the center of the living room, where all of the guests can see her. Bright-colored balloons encompass the party room, reflecting joy and gladness. Baby gifts such as small blankets, infant rattle toys, and tee shirts, dresses, and jump suits are given to the new mother for her baby. Refreshments and snacks come from the kitchen to the living room by plate-fulls. Everyone is excited! Will it be a boy, or a girl? We will soon see. After the baby is born, cards will pour through the mail, expressing congratulations for bringing new life, a baby, into the world. People will write notes of happiness in their cards. The mother will be losing weight, as she is no longer carrying around another life in her body. Now mom and dad be nurturing their newborn with diaper changes, bathing, and feeding – until the child reaches an age where they can care for themself. The father is as proud as he can be! He has a new son or daughter. Some friends or family may give him a blue bubblegum cigar -- if the baby is a boy, and a pink one -- if the baby is a girl. Go To Page: 1 2
