A Clean House For The Holidays

I have a confession to make. I am a messie person. Since I am a writer and have been since as far back as I could pick up a pencil to write or crayon which ever was the closest. My head stayed in the books. The paper tiger didn't bother me because he was my best friend. One day when I was about thirteen, I looked around my room and realized that my sister and I were opposites. She was a gifted cleanie, her side of the room was immaculate. Since then I have developed a new strategy, I will be as clean as I can be. The holiday season is an important time of year for me. My parents always made this time of year important too. Every year about this time they start preparing their house for Christmas. They clean, throw stuff out, paint, do an overhaul on the entire house. So this year I am going to try and organize my house.

I chose the links for this story to include ideas for cleaning and organizing a home. Martha Stewart, who by the way is like my hero when it comes to creative homemaking. I recieve her newletter and it had a link to one of her web pages called "Stain First Aid." It is a great site for those of you who have stains that you just don't know how to get out of clothes, funiture or rugs. Then there is Sesame Workshop. I know you are saying what could a children's web site possibly have to do with cleaning? Well, they do, they have two articles that I have listed. One is called "Controlling Paper Clutter" and the other is called, "Clean Your Room" by Rosemary Black. Rosemary is an editor at The New York Daily News and the mother of six. Other articles I have included are "The Messy Homemaker" by Sally A. Forehand, "How to Clear Out Clutter," and "Five Ways To Organize your Life" by Paul Wolf, a retired insurance underwriter.

There is also a link to Sandra Felton's, Messies Anonymous website. For those of you who need a little extra support when it comes to getting motivated to clean up. Sandra has also written some self-help books and has a newsletter. The site also has a self-help, online, e-mail support group.

Two other sites that I gave five stars to are Getting Organized and Getting Organized At Home. Getting Organized is an excellent site for a broad range of organizational ideas. It also includes some free organizational tools. Getting organized at home includes "Get Organized for Back to School," plus lots more great stuff.
