Summer is a wonderful time for wedding receptions and parites. The beautiful array of summer foliage is in full color during the summer months. Which makes it possible to use a variety of flowers from ones own garden to decorate. A centerpiece made from fresh roses can compliment table settings. In addition, summer is a good season for fresh fruits, such as melons, cantaloupes, strawberries, blueberries and grapes.

Locations can be set either indoors or outdoors for this time of year. Many choose to have the reception in a garden or back yard. Some pick halls of clubs or churches. My husband and I had our receptionn at a local park. Decorations can also go with the theme of a holiday that is close to the date of the event. We had our reception the day before the 4th of July so we picked red, white and blue. That way it was really easy to shop for decorations. Also, we were not traditional in our reception it was done one month after our wedding. Our family lives several cities away. We were all dressed in shorts and short sleeves. We had a huge cook out. Our wedding was small and intimate and very private. The reception was a family event. When we got married our rings had not come in yet and so we waited until the reception to put them on each other in front of family. The most important thing to remember is that it is your wedding and your reception, do it the way you want to do it.

Catering is a good idea for an event of this magnitude. That way the bride can enjoy the event with out worrying about the cake arriving on time or the food being at the proper temperature. However, if you are lucky like our family some great chef's can take over if needed and can prepare a feast fit for a king. Using ones own favorite colors to adorn tables and favorite foods in food trays, which can be set up in a buffet style manner.
