The Wedding Shower

My older sister Carol who is forty-five got married yesterday. So my week was quite busy. May 12th, was also the day that her father Joe and my mother Betty got married. This was my sisters second marriage. Both our parents were also married two times. Kind of a his, hers and ours situation. Carol was the only child of my mother's first marriage and my father Lee had two children from his first marriage Wanda and Shelia. Then they had three more children Linda, myself and David (finally a boy.) Move over Brady bunch, we had six kids too.

Thursday evening was Carol's wedding shower. It was given by her co-workers at the greek resturant where she has worked for the last ten or more years. The location of the wedding was the same as the shower. We played shower games. My favorite was the one where all the guest were given a sheet of paper with the names of about 35 vegetables and fruits only they were scrambled and we had to unscramble them in a certian amount of time. My daughter Trisha won! There were several family members at the shower and numerous friends and co-workers.

After the games it was time for Carol to open presents. She got all new appliances for her kitchen: a kitchen caddy, toaster, can opener, silverware etc... She made a comment about that they were all the things that her x-husband had taken when they divorced. Carol recieved a expense paid honeymoon. Then we made sure she had the four items for luck. Something old was her dress. Since she was getting married a second time, she got a second hand dress. But it was absolutely beautiful. Something new was her vale which her friend Tammy made by hand. Something borrowed. One of her co-workers said she could borrow her pearl necklace and earrings. Something blue, was a gold pin in the shape of an angel, with her birthstone on it, which just happened to be blue. She pinned this to her slip under her dress.

After the gifts were opened, her friend Sherrie who had recorded everything that was said while she opened her gifts, read what she had written out loud. She said that was what was going to be said the night after they were married and it was hilarious.

Then we had refreshments. Finger sandwiches, pimento, tunafish, ham and various others. There was also a white sheet cake with blue roses. Since it was at a resturant we had any kind of drink that we wanted.
