This article is dedicated to my granddaughter, Kristin. Her eyes are green like the grass in springtime. Her bright smile could melt a glacier. From the time her Mother Tracy found out she was pregnant with a girl the theme for her nursery was Peter Rabbit. She is now two and her room still carries the same theme and she has rabbits everywhere. Easter is going to be fun this year because she can now talk in sentences and help with dying the Easter eggs and hunting for the bright colored plastic Easter eggs that will be hidden for this years Easter egg hunt that will be held at her great-grandparents house. Happy Easter Kristin!

Everyone I think should have grandchildren even if they don’t have children. They are God’s gift to us when our own youth begins to fade from view. I spent the Sunday before last with my other granddaughter Desiree’, playing hide and seek the stuffed animals at the playground. My best friend from childhood Peggy and her daughter Cheyenne went with us. Incredibly enough Peggy waited until I had my first grandchild to have her own child. Now Desiree’ and Cheyenne are friends. Cheyenne will turn six on Easter this year. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEYENNE!"

Peggy will have a big party in Cheyenne’s honor with a mouse theme. Cheyenne’s favorite things are mice. Every year Peggy celebrates Easter by setting out not one but several Easter Baskets for Cheyenne. Each basket has a different theme. The main Easter basket includes the candy and a stuffed Bunny. Art theme: coloring books, crayons and watercolors. Outdoor theme: sidewalk chalk, jump rope, bubbles and an outdoor game. Beauty theme: animal scrubby, soap crayons, bubble bath, after bath juice spray (gummy bears or cotton candy).

Different areas hold Easter egg hunts for children. Readers are encouraged to check with their local parks and recreation and in the local newspaper as Easter approaches.

Dying Easter eggs can be done using natural dyes or by buying already pre-packaged egg coloring sets from local retail stores or the grocery store. Caution is recommended when boiling eggs to keep safe and keep the panhandle turned toward the inside of the stove. Also, remember to refrigerate the eggs after they are dyed leaving them in the basket only for a short while until they are eaten or otherwise disposed of.
