Islamic Society of North America-ISNA In an article called Farakhan bid for Islamic unity, there was shown the two different styles of leadership between the Orthodox Muslims and the Black Muslims. Orthodox Muslims believe quote "that the final prophet was Mohammed who founded Islam in Mecca (Mekkah)in the seventh century. The Black Muslims believe that quote "In the Nation of Islam's theology, Elijah Muhammad's teacher W.D. Fard of Detroit, was given divine status and Elijah Muhammed himself is the final prophet of mankind." Stating that Louis Farakhan in his younger years had been a radical and even now controlled a para-military style organization and that Mr. Mohammed is a quieter spiritual leader. However, recently Farakahan seems to be changing his views. Perhaps, he too like Malcolm X is beginning to realize that separatism is man made and that Allah wants Unity among all the races. http://www.isna.net/news.asp?id=13

Malcolm X 1925-65 An American black activist who as a member of the Black Muslim (1952-63) once advocated separatism and black pride. Arabs were members of a Semitic group of people who inhabited Arabia whose language and Islamic religion spread widely throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa from the seventh century.

Allah a name for God especially in Islam. "In The Name of Allah," Awnsers the most frequently asked questions about Islaam http://www.al-sunnah.com/faq.htm Ali c. 600-661 Muslim caliph (656-661) after whose assignation Islam was divided in Sunnite and Shiite sects.Sunnite (Sunnii) The branch of Islam that expects the first four caliph as rightful successors of Muhammad. "Sunni (Arabic) sunniyy," Topics: Islam, Shi’is, Muhammad, hadiths, Shari’a, Caliph, hajj, Mecca, Ali http://i-cias.com/e.o/sunni.htm Sheiite's were members of the branch of Islam that regarded Ali and his descendents as the legitimate successors of Muhammad and rejects the first three caliphs.

In summary Muhammad was a man who worshipped God in everything he did. He lived a simple life without many material comforts that he could have had easily obtained. He was respectful to others and he did not believe in racism. He was fair and just to all people. Malcolm X realized this when he made his trip to Mecca (Mekkah). It was a spritiual journey that only few are allowed to make in their lifetime. It opened his eyes to the "truth" that Muhammad spoke of. All men should be treated equally with respect no matter what color they are. Ramadan is a month of fasting for the Muslim's. Perhaps this year there could be a special fasting and prayer for all men to respect one another and pray for the end to racism and for world peace and to do Allah's (God's) will above all else.
