Labor Day Is For The Working People

Labor Day began in 1882 and is now observed on the first Monday in September in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. In Europe Labor Day is celebrated on May 1st and called "May Day" (look for the article "May Day" next spring.)

Some fun ways to celebrate this holiday include going on a three-day vacation, camping out, picnics and cookouts, and family reunions. Suggestions for vacations are theme parks, water parks and beach resorts. Camping out can be as easy as renting a RV, trailer or cabin or for the more adventurous type camping out in a tent and cooking on a campfire. Whenever, going out of town secure your home before you leave and make provisions for family pets ahead of time.

Picnics and cookouts can be done while on vacation or at home or a local state park with family and or friends. For food safety on cookouts see webpage listings. Sending out invitations is one way that you can plan the number of guest that will attend. To send free invitations online use the invites, yahoo webpage listing. Since some parks require reservations it is a good idea to call ahead of time to reserve a park shelter.
