1. Self-Control 2. Courage 3. Loyalty 4. Forbearance 5. Honesty 6. Concentration 7. Cleanliness 8. Unselfishness 9. Secrecy 10. Sense of Oneness (Nature) 11. Perseverance 12. Gratitude

Depending upon the individual Tang Soo Do organization, kwan, association, union or federation these may vary in order but they remain the same foundational core of values & tenets within the brotherhood of Tang Soo Do. In the brotherhood of Tang Soo Do no matter w2hich affiliation you belong to or which others you may visit the forms, the weapons and the tenets stay the same. I have visited with practioners in almost all affiliations of Tang Soo Do inn their do jangs, at tournaments, at seminars or just in private meetings. One practitioner is always made to feel at home, is respected & always made welcome as an honored member of a huge extended family. This follows the tenet of Loyalty as well as Gratitude to the art combined with unselfishness and is a true mark of Tang Soo Do practitioners around the world.

7 R's of TANG SOO DO

1. Right Thought 4. Right Resolve 2. Right Meditation 5. Right Effort 3. Right Faith 6. Right Speed 7. Right Action

The "R's " are considered the framework of the foundation of the tang Soo Do world. All practitioners accept, attempt to follow & adhere to these as the blueprint for a successful practice of the art.

Weapons of Tang Soo Do

Tang Soo Do has some very traditional weaponry. These include the Bong which is a long staff much like an English quarter-staff, the Bo which is a short staff or cane approximately 3-4 feet in length, a Korean lance that is a spear of approximately 6-7 feet in length, the Korean short-sword akin to the Japanese short-sword, the Korean long-sword, a short chain 2-3 feet in length with a weight at 1 end and "T-shaped " handle at the other end, the dagger much akin to the Japanese "tanto." Some schools also teach the students to use the nun-chukas. There are specific forms or "hyungs" for these weapons just as there are for un-armed fighting. Usually only advanced student of 3rd Gup status or Dan ranks are allowed to practice and learn weapons beyond the Bong or Bo forms. It has become mandatory for Dan ranks to learn, test in & be proficient in the use of at least 3-4 of these weapons within the various affiliations within the Tang Soo Do world.
