Pay or we stay !
Napoleon III and the Pope to keep supporting her husband. Neither of them listened to her. During her voyage she showed the first signs of madness: the Mexican adventure had ended for her; she would never return. She would die in Belgium in 1927, completely isolated from the rest of the world. Maximilian kept on fighting the troops of Benito Juárez with the help of his army (he had sold the royal silverware to finance it) and of the generals Miramon and Mejia. On May 15, 1867, he was captured and about a month later executed in the city of Querétaro by a Republican firing squad. Game over. Jeu terminé.
