Final result? The Pocket PC can be useful for short articles, but could be frustrating for writing a full manuscript. If you need to impress a working contact, the Pocket PC gets top billing. I've converted my clips to PDF files so I can dazzle potential clients with my organization skills and professionalism. (Plus, I get to have my clients play with a really cool toy… a little play goes a long way towards pay!)

I would recommend a Pocket PC over a laptop computer for a writer, since it is lighter, has longer battery life, and is more portable. (I would qualify this statement by saying that a writer should have a desktop computer at home before he or she starts to embrace mobile computing.) The only change I would make would be to purchase the fold-up keyboard and the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 operating system (which includes spell check and word count).

Will I write more on the Pocket PC? Absolutely. Anything to get me out of the house. In fact, I'm writing this article or the Pocket PC. I'm at Disney World right now—in line for the Haunted Mansion.

Wish you were here, foolish mortal!
