The Growing Visibility of Re-Enactors

It comes about when I look back over the past few years to see just how many re-enactors have taken part in historical programming – from TV documentaries and movies, to ads.

I see re-enactors becoming more visible and the movement growing from the new people attending meetings and events, and from those wanting to talk to re-enactors at Ren. Fairs, and other public gatherings all over the world.

I see it in the booming of business for those professional re-enactors who work with schools doing displays.

Like it or not – our hobby is becoming an accepted form of historical teaching. Our expertise is becoming acknowledged, and those who want to learn are seeking us out.

It’s up to us – the re-enactors – to decide the quality of our work. Do we drag the movement back into the “dark ages” where we are seen as being weirdos – or do we proudly show our accomplishments for the world to see.

You decide.
