Makaveli 4: How sad is this?

© Steve Juon

I actually saw a post on the internet today: WTB, Makavei 4. E-mail best offer. I'm in disbelief. Utter shock. As if three unauthorized bootlegs were not enough. I'm sorry, I just have to comment: this is SAD. I'm not just talking sad in the fact that Tupac Shakur and/or his family's estate are being ripped off (that's sad in itself and has been for some time), I'm talking the fact that people are out looking for bootlegs of Makaveli FOUR when there hasn't even been a Makaveli TWO yet *OFFICIALLY*. This just disgusts me to no end. The reason these tapes are flooding the market is because sad fools will buy any piece of shit with 2Pac/Makaveli attached to it that is even the slightest bit in any way related to him. I know 'Pac was supposedly one of the most prolific studio recording artists of all time for the time he was alive, but you have to wonder the following:

A. Was he really THAT prolific to have enough material for four UNOFFICIAL Makaveli bootlegs, AND the official _R U Still Down_ double album, AND the forthcoming _Makaveli: One Nation_ release? B. How many of these unreleased tracks are actually viable material? Let's recall that of the two double albums 'Pac released, one (with older material) was decent and the other (released while he was alive) was absolutely shitty. I say this honestly as a fan of his. C. Of the unreleased tracks, how many of them are ACTUALLY 2Pac's? How do we know we're not being treated to a slew of material he recorded for use as generic Outlawz/Dogg Pound/Death Row filler for "posse" songs and soundtracks? D. Would these cheaply recorded and poor quality bootlegs be doing such a brisk business if 'Pac was actually here on Earth today?

It's sad. It's just really fucking sad. Peace, Flash
