Things On My Mind

Warning: The following article contains SOME things that are about hip-hop, and some things that AREN'T. It's a mesh of different "Things On My Mind".

The copies of the "Krush Groove" and "Brrrr Stick 'Em" videotapes I ordered didn't arrive in the mail today. After MTV's Sunday dedicated to old school hip-hop; I decided I wanted an unedited, unFab5 commented copy of the movie -- a Fat Boys tape was just icing on the cake and for nostalgia value. I personally think Prince Markie Dee had done some great work solo, but he never got noticed for it. Also, R.I.P. to Buffy the Human Beatbox -- hip-hop is not the same without you.

Instead; I got a package from Janis Annunziata of all the vinyl records she didn't want or have a use for. (Shoutouts to Janis for being such a sweetheart.) It's kind of depressing in a way since it has copies of "Body Rock" and "Mourn You Til I Join You" -- records I paid good money for but now have dupes of. Dupes aren't a bad thing when you have two turntables and a fade but I'm a fader and a turntable short and my cash flow is kind of on the paltry side since I just paid off a $400 debt on my credit card. :P

After listening to Cage's "Agent Orange" for the 29th or 30th time I decided to rent "A Clockwork Orange". I've seen it three times in two days. Disturbing as it is, I can't help but sympathize for Alex. It's torture for me to watch him get so violently ill that he can't even throw one fist. If I had my free will curbed like that, I'd probably want to commit suicide too. I don't endorse violence but you should at least have the CHOICE to commit the act or not. I'm told the title of the movie comes from the fact that the doctors turned Alex into that very thing: a mechanically perfect yet hollow imitation of a real and naturally occuring thing.

I'm listening to South Park MPEG files and noticing that any time I scroll the browser window for Netscape up or down the playback slows. Damn, I bought a 150MHZ computer and it can't handle scrolling a window and playing an MPEG at the same time? If I wasn't so broke I'd upgrade and get something better.

There's the irony: broke enough I can't fix up my computer or buy any new PlayStation games, but not broke enough I can't walk over to the convenience store, get a 40, and get loose.
