Quincy Jones and Dr. Dre

1. They are both hailed as musical visionaries who pioneered their genre. 2. They both have a knack for discovering really good new artist talent. 3. Every single they release is overanticipated to a ridiculous degree. 4. They seem to release a new album about every 8 years.. if not longer. 5. Both have put out a lot of garbage despite their ability to make hits. 6. They're both so overrated it's not even funny.

One has to wonder what Dr. Dre is thinking. He has a label with a roster of both seasoned veterans like King T and rising new stars like Eminem -- yet the label he owns seems to in fact be going in REVERSE when it comes to promoting and marketing. Release dates are being pushed back, singles are hard if not impossible to find, and the label has no new releases. I'm willing to grant that running a label is not easy business but I wonder if the artists involved feel as sure of their future as Dr. Dre does.. or if he's just killing time while he sits on the money he already made for all his other platinum hits. His artists might not get the brand name and the world class production if they went somewhere else, but at least they'd get somebody hungry to put their work on the streets.

Peace, Flash
