The Rap Life - Entry #1: An Intro to Lou Brocc aka MexiCali Slim

there, but I kept it real and I fucked with some true niggas.

Like I was saying, my homeboy I went to school with, Big Tone, daddy had a summer league baseball squad and the nigga askedlme to play for them. Since my granddaddy lived in the U, it was cool because I could use his address.

I ended up playing like three years with them U. City cats so it was all good when niggas started growing up and getting into other shit tbangin', slangin' and fuckin' bitches). I got mad love for them cats and vice verse. Anyway it goes, this was about'92 or'93 and by '95 I was gone to KCMO, so I didn't even know the lil' nigga was rapping and shit. To tell you the truth, when I heard the song I was like damn, them cats sound familiar, but it wasn't until I saw the single's cover that I realized that was my muthafuckin' shortstop.

So, after listening to "Gimmie What'cha Got" about a hundred times, I got sparked. I was like fuck that, I wanna be a rapper. I started out just like everybody else, no direction, no identity, no clue. Then, the idea came to me. Just keep it real and rap about the shit you know about and let your real personality come through.

See, I always wanted to be a big time superstar, but I always thought it was going to be playing ball or something. Once the ball was over, I started looking at other ways to get paid. Thus the move to KCMO. Which brings me to now. That's right. I'm back in the Lou (since the summer of 2000) and I'm trying to do the damn thing. Right now, I got a gang of shit worte down, got some tracks from my man Q up in KSMO, and my homie down here, Mr. Chimney, is an A&R for this up and coming prooduction company called Infuego Productions. This, I promise, is my introduction to the muthafuckin' world and I have no problem sharing my life with the world (In case you didn't know, now you do, Hip Hop Suite 101 is world-wide) From here on out consider these memoirs as a personalized camcorder to the daily events of a superstar in the making.
