PHAROAHE MONCH/Internal Affairs For those of you who know PHAROAHE MONCH, you will be used to his unbelievable talent for flipping lyric combinations like no other rapper in the industry. His work with PRINCE PO in ORGANIZED KONFUSION has always been ridiculously underrated, probably due to the fact that most of the populace can't quite catch everything they try to relay. But now, the dynamic duo has split to follow some individual interests. However, although i consider PHAROAHE's solo work good, it is considerably less innovative than i was hoping to hear from the man who told you to "suck my dick from the back, with a crazy straw." The first song, "Intro," is exactly what i was waiting for. With the help of DJ SCRATCH, and a bigband sample over some nice drums, PHAROAHE welcomes you, "may i have your attention, please/what you are about to hear is undoubtedly the most incredible emcee of the year/no,no,no, no, wait no, please no, wait no, listen no/all that i wish to do is to display a brand new rendition of style that i have/it'll only take a moment of your time, four minutes...i have a dream/one day we will get to the promised land/and the president will be me/the government will be shabaam, mos and kwali/that's it." This is followed by tongue twisting lyrics beyond his past efforts and a fine tuned scratch of CHUCK D--"refuse to lose." The shit gives me goose bumps. When the self produced single "Simon Says" came out, i must have listened to it fifteen times in a row. It sets the mood of a dark, dirty club with a bunch of b-boys ready to rock, but nobody's got up off the wall yet. PHAROAHE steps to the mic and tells you it's time to "get the fuck up! Simon says get the fuck up!" What is a great call and response crowd rouser is only blemished by the command "girls rub on your titties! yeah i said it, rub on your titties!" but overall, the adrenaline gets to you. "The Next Shit" with BUSTA RHYMES is definitely out there with some production PHAROAHE has been waiting to unleash on the masses. Using a Spanish "Fandango," the offbeat rhythm just simply fucks your head up, along with a long awaited combo of lyricists. Go To Page: 1 2
