Best Artist Website = busta-Rhymes.com
» Awarded to the website with the most creative, innovative and thorough representation of a Hip-Hop Recording Artist or Group.
Extinction Level Event - a combustible Flash intro launches you to the main page, where you're served up the bio, the maillist, links to his fam, The Flipmode Squad (Rah Digga, Lord Have Mercy and Rampage), a quick click to the Bushi line, album and fan club info...all on the start page. If that isn't enough Busta for you, the bottom half of your screen serves for easy navigation to even more Busta: additional info, videos and a shouts section. Busta Rhymes isn't one of my favorite artists, but I had to give props where props are due.
Best Record Label Site = Def
Jam
» Awarded to the Hip-Hop/Urban record label website with the most creative design, graphic layout and original content.
A tough choice put two heavyweights toe to toe; Def Jam, the home of Method Man versus Loud, the home of Wu Tang Clan. How's that for irony? Both sites are pretty much even when it comes to creative design, graphics and content (articles, bios, multimedia, the whole nine). What separates these sites however, are the added extras. Loud is looking for mcs to drop lyrics on their battle board (talk about a big letdown, I expected more from a label of this caliber), but on the up and up, Def Jam is looking for hip hop's biggest fan (a big bag of chips with the dip!).
