state of an individual. The sound of letter "U" signifies all that is observed and perceived in the dream state of an individual's consciousness. The sound produced by the letter "M" signifies all that is unknown. The 'silence' represents the underlying Reality that pervades the above three elements.

Thus, "AUM" symbolizes the infinite Brahman, the essence of all existence.

Aum first appeared in The Vedas, the holy books of ancient India. The Tibetans translate Aum as Hum. Egyptians, Greeks, Romans also translated this sacred word as Amen. Many Middle Eastern religions, whose practioners pray many times daily, often use the word "amin" in their prayers, which is used similarly to amen.

The simplest English translation of this sacred word is "amen." Amen is used in Judeo-Christian prayers, usually at the end. Amen is used to express ratification, as an expression of faith, or hearty approval
