Missouri Mountain - Page 3

After summitting, and after returning across the little valley near the top, we began the scary boulder-scramble down. This was tough because even the biggest rocks - the ones you think won't move at all - will slide. The fear factor at this point is very high. I thought of my Yoga instructor as I climbed, stretched, twisted, and leapt down that slope. In fact, I think that I made much better time since my recent introduction to Ashtanga Yoga. Just take it slow and remember to breathe. The view of the Cloyses Lake and Mt. Huron is lovely if you aren't being pelted with hail as we were. If you can, please take many moments to enjoy the view. I've included a shot of it here for inspiration.

Once we got off the rocks, we found the trail we missed on the way up. It wound through the trees and right toward the lake. We reversed our path down the jeep trail on very tired and sore feet. We then traversed the creeks again in reverse just as dusk was beginning to fall. It was an unbelievably difficult trek for us, but we made it. This one goes down in our record books.
