Just after this tree is where I had to turn around because I didn't have a lot of time that day. I did sit and ponder the tree and the view for some time. The wildflowers are starting to bloom in the high country, so it is a glorious time to be out. If you can, plop down by the creek when you return. Listen to the sounds of the trees and the creek. Look at the flecks of fool's gold in the rocks and mud at the edge of the creek. Ponder what this might have looked like before humans arrived. Welcome to spring in Colorado.

This article is inaccurate in many respects. First, there ARE facilities at the trail head. Park next to the foot bridge where you normally would, then walk back toward the campsites in the directio ...
