Silver Falls - Page 2

As always, where water and steep drop-offss are involved, I recommend keeping very close watch on small, or even not so small, children. I vaguely remember a news report from not so many months ago involving a child and a fatal accident at one of the falls. Be aware that this is a very real danger!

My first trip to Silver Falls was with a group of friends, some of whom brought young children. We adults outnumbered them and were very conscientiouss about staying close to them, often holding the hands of the youngest when in areas that were potentially dangerous to them. I'm happy to say that we left with as many of them as we brought.

I don't have much for suggestions as to other nearby activities. There isn't much else near the park but trees and farmland. Traditionally, I grab a sandwich at the Subway just east of where Hwy 22 crosses I-5 and eat it before proceeding on to the park.

I have been to Silver Falls five times now, and have fond memories of every trip. It is my hope that this article will prompt a few readers to explore this wonderful place and enjoy it as much as I have. Happy hiking.
