Things To Bring On a Hike, Part 2snow, put it in my hat, and marched along for the next hour with cool water slowly trickling down the back of my neck. This also gave me a snowball to throw at my fellow hikers when they least expected it. My hiking hat is brown, made of stout cloth, and has a strap so I can keep it on in the wind or let it hang down on my shoulders. It's shaped kinda like the one Harrison Ford wears in the Indiana Jones movies, except that it looks like it's been stomped on a few times, soaked in a stream and had the water and sweat wrung out of it. In other words, it's just right. Apparently I'm not the only one to see the value of such a hat. I've seen several that are much like it topping the heads of other hikers I've met on the trail. Well, I hope you've enjoyed my little discussion about clothing appropriate for a hike. Most of it is pretty basic, but just maybe you've learned something new. Hike long and prosper. Wayne
