Once a year, audio experts from all over Europe meet to select the best-of-breed new audio products on offer, under the auspices of EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association).
There are quite a few people who are very reluctant to take these awards seriously. Their impression is that a handful of people from Europe's most influential audio magazines meet, and, between cheese and wine, all agree to vote for some pre-selected equipment. These individuals also have the impression that our judges only choose to disagree with certain arguments like "Come on... we cannot put "DimsAudio SupaDupaAmp Mark XXXX as our selection three times in a row" but such gatherings also help to improve the information exchange and understanding between the audio experts from Europe's (commercial) magazines (i.e. discussing the latest advertising-promotional deals etc). Well, a tiny minority you may be thinking, but given the global popularity of X-Files, you may well be one of these individuals who are untouched from glamour and glimpse of such awards. I, for one, I took the opportunity to make your life a bit easier by tracing the "winners" on the Web. I tend to dread the situations where I spend a lot of time and resources for things that I later discover that were not worthy . . . . Most links lead directly to the winning product with a few exceptions (mostly due to not up-to-date pages). A special (though private) award goes to the brand new homepage of DENON So here we have the experts favourites: Novelty system '97-'98: Meridian 518
