Car Audio...Just bought a car that comes with no built-in audio system (a tiny Rallye type of car) and I find useful to share my experience. To be frank with you I was amazed when somebody broke a backseat window and just stole a bag - the audio system remained there unscratched to my surprise. Going to a police station to report the incident I stated my surprise for still having my radio, tape, CD-Changer and speakers there - surprise that was met with an even bigger one from the policemen. "Where have you been mate all these years? Dont you know that none steals stand alone systems? Nowadays all cars come with decent "stereos" and nobody is bothering with systems like yours!" I left speechless. All my efforts to impress with my system produced no result. :-) Yet, the car audio manufacturers are trying their best to impress the public especially when they have failed to impress the Electronic Divisions of major car makers or the local representatives of car companies to adopt or sponsor their products. Car audio enthousiasm had become more of a niche market for the luben yuppie who just managed to get himself a decent (or not so decent) car and decided to fill it with sound. And fill it I mean. All the baggage compartment can be filled with massive speakers, and amps, and special batteries (to supply the massive amp). Companies like Rockford have made fortunes form people who discovered that mobility allows you to convert their car to a mobile discoteque to entertain (though this is usually not the case) the fellow pedestians, drivers etc. In countries with people as loud and vocal as mine Greece, these developments are not welcome for the unsuspecting common man on the street (he's had enough already). Soon, I guess, the real estate agents will penalise the owners of homes near traffic lights even more since on the top of the additional polution made by car when the lights turn green is the noise that comes out of an increasing number of cars when the lights are red!
