Herb Garden Planning: Seeds

© Laurel Morris

Right now is a great time to start planning your herb garden and deciding what seeds to purchase. It's a time to dream and put your thoughts on paper. That paper will represent the hope for new life that comes to every gardener. This hope will carry gardeners through the winter.

Planning If you have a plot of land, make a drawing of your garden. What shape do you want it to be? Will there be any ornaments or borders? If you have a balcony or indoor space, get a collection of pots together. Remember, most herbs like lots of sun. If you have a sunny window, fine. If not, get a grow light. Seed Starting

Official Seed starting page from Weekend Gardener. Links to each type of herb and specific instructions:

Also at Weekend Gardener, a great interactive grow guide. "For spring garden planning, select the spring season and enter a planning date, your last spring frost date, and your first fall frost date. Sowing, hardening off, and transplanting tasks for spring plantings are calculated for you from these dates. Follow a similar procedure when planning your fall garden."
