Doro Interview

the more I appreciate it. It's always a big honor to play in front of people. Every year I appreciate it much more.

You've toured all over the world. Is there a country you haven't played live in that you would like to?

Japan. In the 80s they didn't like that a woman was coming over. It's still that way. I know we have a strong base there, but the promoters or record company people are not supporting the idea of me coming over.

We're also working on going to South America. I know that people are diehard fans there. It was one of the reasons we did a Spanish song on the record.

Who are some of the bands you've toured with over the years that you've had the most fun with or treated you the best?

Back in the early days we toured with Metallica in really small clubs when they were just starting out. That was super cool. Later we were offered a big European tour with Judas Priest. We were all big Judas Priest fans. It was un-fucking-believable. Then in 1986 we toured with Dio. That was great. We also toured with them in 2000.

We had a great tour with W.A.S.P. in England. The Megadeth tour was great, too. Back then we didn't speak English very well, so when we saw other bands it was just smiling and saying hi. There wasn't much conversation going on.

When you're not on the road or in the studio, what do you like to do for fun?

Actually, I'm always doing something connected with music. Writing songs, rehearsing, being in the studio. There's not much other stuff I like. I do have a lot of biker friends, and I like to go as fast as we can. I like Harley Davidsons and street bikes.

What is your reaction to the disaster at The Station nightclub in Rhode Island at the Great White show where 97 people died?

I was sobbing. Every night I dreamt of it. We just came off tour and we had the same fireworks. I couldn't believe it. I feel sorry for the families. I know how it feels to lose somebody you love.
