Trigger Point has been rocking the west coast for a few years and are now ready to conquer the rest of the country with the release of their debut full-length album, A Silent Protest. The band is made up of vocalist Taylor Wallace, guitarist Mike Bashur, bassist Paul Kelly and drummer Dave Gentry. The L.A. hard rock/heavy metal group's album was produced by Logan Mader (Machine Head, Soulfly).
Chad Bowar: How did the band get together? Taylor Wallace: We were all going to the same music school in Los Angeles and I was introduce to Dave. He was jamming with Mike at the time and I went to see them play, the next day I joined in and we hit it off great. We had a different bass player for the first two years and then we picked up Paul who was my best friend and a close friend of the band. How would you describe Trigger Point's sound to someone not familiar with the band? It's hard to describe, we don't sound like anyone else at any given time because we have a lot of different influences. I can tell you that if you like Hard Rock/ Metal at all there is definitely something that you will latch on to. How did you decide on A Silent Protest as the title? It just seemed to wrap up the overall feeling of the record. I also like the fact that it is a double edge sword meaning wise, A Silent Protest is something that is very political and very powerful, but at the same time it is also very delicate and personal. So it is a really good way to represent us I think. Why did you decide on Logan Mader as your producer? How was he to work with? It just kind of happened really, I don't think we even realize what was going on when he said he wanted to work with us, we were just like "cool." But when we got in the studio it was amazing. The man is a genius and we didn't run into any problems that he couldn't fix right away. He is one of my best friends now and we have already decided to do the next record with him. How come you cancelled your summer tour? We had booked a second leg of our tour with a booking agent we had never met and they couldn't get us the money we needed put gas in our car to get to the shows. That and our van broke down like 30 times. So we just decided to head home and regroup for when the record came out. Go To Page: 1 2
