Juliya Interview

If you like metal and don't get the Fuse network, you need to get a dish or digital cable. Metal fans across the globe have fallen in love with Juliya, the hostess of the show Uranium which features videos and interviews with some of the biggest and heaviest acts in metal.

Juliya was born in the Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She was a big fan of Fuse and a frequent poster on their bulletin boards. She was chosen to make her broadcast debut on the show Tastemakers. Her brashness and sex appeal made her an instant favorite and after a year on Tastemakers she moved on to host Uranium. In addition to the TV show, Juliya has many other projects in the works which are discussed in the following interview.

Chad Bowar: How important are shows like Uranium to the popularity of metal music?

Juliya: Very important -- the goal of this show was to bring back and support all kinds of extreme music.

What is the key to a good interview?

Knowing about the band. If you don't listen to them, do extensive research. And also remember to have a sense of humor. Deep or basic questions are of course important, but comic relief is always liked by all.

What's the dumbest question you've asked in an interview?

hahaha -- There have been a few. I don't remember off the top of my head, but when I've had a lot of bands in a row to interview, I've sometimes mixed up the info by accident.

What's the dumbest question you've been asked when being interviewed?

Would you date me?

Who have been your favorite bands to interview?

Damage Plan, Slayer, Type O, LOA, Devil Driver

Least favorite?

Some foreign death metal bands because they aren't from here and don't get the sense of humor.

Who wasn't what you expected them to be when you met them and how?

Manson and Jonathan Davis...both were very quiet and nice and shy.

Who would you like to interview that you haven't yet?

Ozzy

Who are your all-time favorite bands?

Pantera, Danzig, Megadeth, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry

Favorite non-metal bands and artists?

There are too many! But pop stars with no vocal talent with music and words written for them piss me off the most!

Most overrated band or bands in metal?
